The Freedom of the City: Models of Urban Engagement & Creativity in the 21st Century at SMU Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, TX
April 9, 2011

Laurie Jo Reynolds is an artist and Soros Justice Fellow. Her projects include Tamms Year Ten, which led to prison reform in Illinois. Reynolds fuses artistic and cultural strategies with political activism to focus on prisoners, ex-offenders, sex offenders, and the costs of human warehousing.

Laurie Jo Reynolds discusses her various approaches in communicating and imagining the experiences of the "worst of the worst." In her many Tamms Supermax events, Reynolds provides the audience with a space for reflection and political action. She then talks about the various challenges involved to build a dialogue about registered sex offenders.
