Chloe (white) and Loaf (black) going through their nightly routine! I am behind the camera, my mom is the one feeding them.

Chloe and Loaf roam free in the upstairs 12+ hours a day, but when it's time for me to go to bed, they must go to bed too. Before I went to college I was training Chloe to hop in her cage on command, but as soon as I started to dorm "Grandma" (my mom) started coaxing her in with treats instead. When Loaf became a member of our family, he quickly learned to hop in his cage at night for a treat, too, so that is the routine we've settled into.

The queue that it's time for bed is the crinkling of the banana chip bag. As soon as the buns hear this they come bolting out from wherever they were and leap into their open cages. As you can see, they're rather impatient and demand their banana chip THAT VERY INSTANT, and if they don't get it right away they turn into ravenous little raptors. After they're closed in and placed in the adjacent room, they are each also given a small slice of apple. When I put them to bed they each get one banana chip, and one small slice of apple... but when grandma "tucks them in" they get a lot more than that, as this video demonstrates. But isn't that what grandmas are supposed to do?

My favorite part of this entire video is near the end. It's when Chloe is given a slice of apple while she's in the standing position, begging, and afterwards she remains there so you can see her little mouth chewing as fast as it will go! :)

Update 12/12/2011 - Chloe (white) had to be put down due to Spontaneous Encephalitis on July 5th, at 3yrs old. Loaf is still around, though, and he has a new little bun, Willow, to keep him company. It's been a really rough couple of months for the both of us. RIP Chloe.

  • Shouldn't you put them in a bit of a bigger cage? Do they have to stay indoors? If you can get some bars then get half or more of that room cut off for them. Keep them in there for long and they could die!

  • @Sherbert337 They only go in their cages at night. During the day they have the run of my room which is 20x30ft PLUS the entirety of this adjoining bathroom.

  • You give them treats again at midnight? geeze haha they are spoiled! :) I have 1 bunny and he is my world! SO cute watching how these bunnies act. :) too cute

  • @SegalMaddy Yes. They are rather spoiled :) But they're not unhealthily fat or anything, just happy little buns! My bunnies are my entire world too! <3 Yay for bunny moms and cute little bun buns!

  • :) I wish I could get another one, but I don't think my bunny gets along with other bunnies and I don't have room :( My bunny lives in a dog pen so he has lots of space to run. His fav thing to eat are parsnips. We put them at the bottom of his bowl, but he always digs for them haha

  • @slinkmanlover14 Thank you! <3

  • @CriminalSpirit I know! Lol. They're really a lot smarter than people make them out to be!

  • @SaddleNoSturrups Rabbits make wonderful pets :) Glad you stopped by!

  • @tiejasmine Thank you very much! <3
