Here is my test of dog food. I make no claims as to what the white specs are. I make no claim as to whether they would be bad for a dog to eat. I only show you what I found. This type is the fish type. No where in this video do I claim that this food is bad for your pet. Nor do I claim what those white specs are. Its just an unedited video shot of what came out of this bag. The video that prompted me to make this was spliced. It COULD have been manipulated to make a point. Its possible. Anyone with a decent trained eye can see that mine is not spliced, just overdubbed with narration. Anyone could have made this same video with ANY dogfood out there. I've said many times that i dont know what those specs are. If someone actually sends them off and tests them and can quote, display or prove what the testing shows, by all means do that. We ALL just want to be educated on what we feed our pet family.
On another note, I did research the notion that dead animals are placed in all dogfood over the counter. If you search the net long enough, you will find information that will not prove that is the case. It is a myth perpetuated by scare mongers. Those folks point to a report of a substance in a test that was only related to the same substance found in euthanized animals. The substance was NEVER proven to be the EXACT substance from euthanized animals. In fact the federal agency that did the testing and released the report AMENDED that report after the scare mongers started screaming. Look for it. Read it. You will come to the same conclusion.
My pets live a long life, very few die from any cancer. ALL of my dogs are rescued. And ALL of them are feed with over the counter pet foods. I feed them what THEY like. What they gobble down. All are a bit over weight. :) And they are healthy. I've had dogs for 50 years and all of them fed with over the counter foods.
Of course, just WHO can predict the melamine contamination. Research that. The USA distributors had to trust their suppliers. Does anyone trust countries that have so little regulations?
So buy what makes your pets happy. Make your own food. Just do the best you can for them. Thats my opinion.
Oh, and don't post edited/spliced video as a source to make claims on. LOL!

  • This is the response Newman's Own gives about "white specks":

    14. What are the white flecks I see on top of the food?

When cold, the food may have gelled broth and tiny globules or fat on the surface. These are natural occurences as the formulas do not contain any emulsifiers, fillers, gums or artificial colors. We recommend stirring in a small amount of warm water before servicing to your pet. This will help to soften the food, even out the consistency

  • @thinkforaminute Might not be exactly the same type of specks we see here. The specs we see are throughout the food, not just on top.

But excellent comment and observation. The more info the better for all of us.

  • I don't understand what the big deal is. Wellness is one of the few dog foods that is preservative free, and made from quality meat and vegetable sources. I am impressed that this brand added phytonutrients such as lycopene from tomatoes as well as omega-3 and omega-6 faty acids...derived from fish. Anyone who has ever caught and cooked their own fish knows that fish bones are relatively soft and no problem to chew and swallow. To me this video offers no good reason not to buy wellness dog food.

  • @massiemassacre The "big deal" is what is your dog eating? To most of us, that is an extremely big deal. We would like to know EXACTLY what is in the food our dogs eat, not all the fluff you describe. All the best ingredients in the world mean nothing, if you don't know what the other ingredients are. We would just like some concrete report stating what these specs are. If you have that info, please post a link. We would appreciate knowing what those specs are.

  • There are dangerous, razor-like fish bones in the Wellness pet food that could cut your pet's esophagus or even your finger! Wellness V.P. Greg Kean stated that he is "not concerned." He admitted that he gives his dog whole eggs, that's not just the whites and the yolk, but the WHOLE EGG IN THE SHELL!!!

  • Could you please post or show your proof that these are dangerous razor like bones? That is what all are are trying to determine I believe. No offense, to you post intended, just trying to get some facts out there to help us all make a good decision on what to feed our extended family. Thanks.

  • I agree wellness is considered a very premium diet, but I myself will not consider it the best one. I prefer orijen and things with more meat content.

  • The best dog food is the kind you make yourself at home using human grade ingredients you find in a supermarket. Otherwise, you really do not know what you get.

Also, would you eat the same food each meal each day, for months and months and even years? Why would you feed your dog that way then?

Check out my book: Fresh Food and Ancient Wisdom: Preparing Healthy and Balanced Meals for Your Dogs by Dr. Ihor Basko

  • I found a whole dogs toenail- and yes it was a dead dogs toe nail in canned dog food!- I now make my own dog food- I start with oat meal & add chopped apples for breakfast, then cooked chicken for lunch & eggs for dinner- I make dog cookies from bisquick mix w/ chicken broth & liver bits. My young dog who was listless and sickly is now healthy and running and jumping again- make your own- don't trust dog food companies. Greed is their #1 ingredient. google recalled dog food- hundreds are

  • You see, Noah never knew of Wellness brand petfoods. Were there dogs on the Ark? The bones, if they are bone fragments, may cause scratches in the colon in some dogs. For 1000's of yrs. animals have eaten 'off the land'. Todays'dogs are genetically bred to require commercial foods. And they are also required to have $1000.00 operations to remove tumours. Ths is the American way. Sort of like having a 40 000 watt car stereo, and a 900 gal. gas tank., and 1/2 the population is prisons.

  • I just bought this product for my dog. After watching this video, i inspected the food. I discovered about 18 pieces with bones and i didnt even pour the bag out! Needless to say i am returning the dog food first thing in the morning!

Thank you for posting this video!
