REPORT: 25 billion pairs of wooden chopsticks are used and discarded every year in Japan but no initiative has ever been taken to recycle them. Some ideas are getting their way but, first, habits have to change.
@NarutoNinjagirl93 We seldom speak English to eachother talking with Japanese people. and the last one who dubbed has strong Japanese accent worse than I do...
they do, however english is not compulsary subject in japanese schools until high school. That might be one of the reasons alot of japanese dont speak much english.
the fact is that most of chopstics are made from the thinning-out trees which are to be discared in mountains. the journalist did not mention about this fact.
we should all use washable chopsticks and cutleries. stop using disposables. i intend to bring with me my own set the next time i eat out in a fast food chain. when i buy take-outs i tell the server not to include tissue and plastic spoon&fork. i even bring with me my own bag for the take-outs...
