I have autodesk 2012 and when i downladed the 3ds max version it downloaded as a (.rar) file, my 3ds max program wont open the file type.

@Suren0 Don't be intimidated, I found concentrating on one aspect at a time the best way to go. Just make the model as best you can before worrying about materials or rigging or rendering. Just make a check list and work your way through it. Good luck and have fun! ;)

That's simply amazing! You have no clue how frustrating it is for someone who just started out with 3D modeling to watch something like this!
I'd like to know what kind of techniques you've used to build this. Box modeling ? Nurbs ? How did you start ? 2D or 3D ?
It seem like I know a lot of techniques but I have no clue how to work with them. Help me!

@Deadman7Inc I used two reference planes FRONT & SIDE. I downloaded as many reference images as possible. It's just poly modeling, same way you'd poly model a human head using reference image planes to make sure you have the basic shape correct then use all the other reference photos for modeling finer details. so many free tutorials all over the net. but the MAIN thing with doing something like this is patience, I made this will with about 6mths self taught experience.
