Sport mode is really a joke its actually eliminating your overdrive. take out overdrive and it shifts faster. drive down the highway and turn it on watch your RPMs rise.

more or less yea but in sport mode engine braking in increased and the car shifts slightly firmer

sport mode makes the shifts longer and shift right before redline for max acceleration

@supreme2005 yeah, mine has less than 80,000 miles and a blown engine and tranny, but it could also be in how u treat the car, we did not even know this car was sporty, one of the things we didnt notice was the 'Sport Mode' button was worn completley down, so the problems could have been the car OR how it was treated

I would love to have one of these cars but I've heard so much bad about them that I'm afraid. I always thought they were really nice looking cars and they usually got high praise from the critics.

Well I have a '99 Catera and I love it...No problems except for a misterious gas leak that goes on and off...but other than that..its been running great for 3 years. Head gaskets replaced and timing belt due to the recall that I heard about...Still give this car a break it takes you to and fro the city.

ya i people comment alot on catera vids saying that the 97' 98' and 99' cateras had alot of problems but the 00' and 01' ran perfectly as long as you took care of them.

ive had mine for about 4 years now. Only thing i needed was the struts and my catylac converter went on it, other than that great car for me i drive it 35miles to and from work still runs like a charm.

Replaced by the CTS means they stopped making them. They are junk read the rest of the comments.

My mom had one of these when they first came out. Awsome little car, very quick. Unfortunately, it had so many problems she traded it in after 2 years of ownership. Bummer.
