Here's my video which features the dynamic team of 4 people in the San Francisco Sheriff's Department who asked me to help them tell the story of how their project "Inside-Out" had come about. This video premiered at the National Conference for Preventing Crime in the Black Community, which was held in Jacksonville, Florida in 2009.
In a simple and straightforward way, the video reveals their innovative, comprehensive approach to supporting prisoners in their re-entry process and, at the same time, providing community members an opportunity to assist and be involved in that process as mentors.
The mission of Inside-Out is to support and guide prisoners who clearly strive to improve their lives by engaging the community in a holistic, comprehensive and mutually beneficial support system, as prisoners re-enter society and become independent, active participants.
A special aspect of this video was having 2 student interns working with me who came from the Sheriff's Department's Five Keys Charter School, where I taught video production.
Please share your thoughts and feelings.
