Bob Schieffer's point here, that nation-building begins at home, is a very good and important point to make. America can lead by example. Not many nations will want to follow the example of a nation that continues to run record balance-of-trade deficits and whose infrastructure is crumbling.
And you can't impose a military "solution" on a political and economic problem, which -- truth be told -- is what really characterizes the problem in Afghanistan, even more than "religion."

Obama criticized Bush for sending troops into Iraq and not Afghanistan where the "real' enemy was, so why does Obama now hesitate?
