Pivoting Toward Final Status Negotiations

Over the past several months, the United States has been negotiating with Israel and Arab states over measures designed to launch formal final status negotiations on a comprehensive peace agreement.

As a member of the PLO Executive Committee, which is responsible for these final status negotiations, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi is well placed to discuss next steps in how American leadership can create the conditions necessary for a successful outcome and to discuss any developments arising from the United Nations General Assembly meetings of heads of states.

Dr. Ashrawi is the first woman to serve on the Executive Committee of the PLO. She was recently elected in the first ever direct elections for membership in the PLO's primary decision making body. She has twice been elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council, is the founder of The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue & Democracy (MIFTAH) and other civil society and human rights organizations, is a member of Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's Third Way party, and was a member of the original Palestinian negotiating team in the 1991 Madrid talks with Israel.

I am sure Dr. Ashrawi is very proud of the PLO decision to withdraw support for the Goldstone's Gaza War Crime Report. Too bad such a respected one joined an incompetent, corrupt and illegitimate organization like the PLO. Once again, the PLO and PA prove it is a loyal partner with Israel for the management of the Jewish Occupation.

will foot note,& return,if life grants the chance.First thoughts on skimming, and hearing opening statements,its a very optimistic outlook being held here.

Of course,I have yet to step foot in these lands,only 2nd hand stories,through video,images,& what I heard.Human rights,take 2nd to ones religious rights, and those guility, and/or feel unjustly dealt on this tug a war over these holy lands, will fall. Till one side's gone, or all sides drop generations long pride of being the chosen one
