Greg Jarboe, SEO-PR, interviews Rand Fishkin, CEO, SEOMoz, about the future of SEO panel at SES London 2009. Rand says people are using more social elements and direct methods of getting information rather than using the traditional search engines. Programs such as Yelp, OpenTable for local search, and Kayak, Faircast Live for travel search are examples of this recent development. Rand says people today who want to converse or learn more about social media don't use Google but use such applications as Facebook or Twitter. Rand also says that today's economic challenges will cause significant shake-ups in the composition of search marketing firms. Rand foresees more consolidation and acquisition in search for 2009 and also more entrepreneurship. Rand also offers his take on the significance of links.
