  • Most PG pilots I have met in the UK don't understand why i speedfly, they keep telling me that I could soar the hills, I know I used to paraglide. That's not the point, this is about low fast terrain flying and that you can't do on a slow paraglider. The paragliders in the 80's had similar glides to these speedwings but nothing like the speed. Fun you cant have on a PG :-)

  • ahhh yes your right about the paragliding and how it was born but in 20 years canopies have changed dramatically and between 87' and 07' canopies have become smaller faster different shape different materials eg zp 87' it was prob a 7 cell canopy something huuuge like a 280 and made out of f111 groundlaunching now is like a extended swoop so ideally close to the ground going some stupid speed i think in 87' a 190 was high performance and prob what he was using these days its 90sq ft canopies!

  • hi jim, rico and cruz

  • Nice clips but nothing new here. This is how paragliding was born in the 1980s using ram air chutes like yours. On a modern paraglider you could soar these hills for ages. Search on youtube for "paragliding 1987" and take a look at the Jon Bouchard clip to see what I mean about the history.

    Happy jumping or soaring :-)
