Meaning:
Oh, Lord, one who wipes out the sins left over (from life), oh extensive (omnipresent) one, May I (Let me) watch your coral mouth, while being the steps at the entrance of your temple, traversed by (your) devotees, celestial gods and celestial goddesses,

Oh, Srinivasa (Dwelling place of Lakshmi), lord of auscpicious Venkatam, Victory to you, Oh Govinda (friend of cows), Oh, mukunda (liberator), Oh Endless One.

You earned the fame as the refuge of the meek, where have you seen one more meek than me?

Oh, lord of the seven hills, one who is praised by the whole universe, Illusory one,

Oh, husband of AlarmElmangai

Oh, lord of the Universe, wielder of the wheel and the conch

I seek the refuge of your feet, free me from fear!

  • Lovely rendering and the God's special gifted Sisters

  • simply superb......

  • Tthis is very nice composition

  • I kept listening to this song sung by many artists and liked them, but this is divine. Why would anyone dislike this?

  • Elder one reminds me of seductive beauty of actress K R Vijyaya in her twenties.

  • I have no knowledge whatsoever of the nuances of carnatic music. But i can firmly say that this was a soulful performance.

  • Excellent rendition. Every time I listen to this, something new comes up, either in the gamakas and the meaning. Full of bhakti bhava.

  • Thanks for upload carnaticopia.modt melodious singing with unbelievable synchronisation.

  • @kiney0713 hmm... Well, i am not knowledgeable about hindustani sangeet to write about sohini raag, but you are right about the raaga "hamsaanandi". It is very strong and can be very soul stirring. It can make the listener/artist to get deeply spiritual, develop devotion and cry out and forget the world. A very powerful raaga indeed. It can also bring out the innate and untouched happiness inside us.

Amazingly rendered also. Love it.. 5 stars.. :)

  • @biyer08 You are right Mr. Iyer. The Hindustani version of Hamsanandhi is raag Sohoni - the raag of 'Jhoomti Chali Hawaa...".

My personal opinion is that Hamsanandhi is more, well, "strong" while Sohoni is a bit on the 'soft/soulful' side - perhaps it comes out based on the song and the singer.

Wonderful listening to the sisters singing this great raag/song.
