This song really shows Ridgway's way with a lyric and setting up a drama with the band and the audience. Is it about a failed miltary manuver? Just a day on grunt patrol? Or is it finally a song about American arrogance? "i never get it wrong - I always get it right!"

To me it sounds more like the various characters in Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Stranglove. Or something like the other crazy characters in movies like Mad Max or the Road Warrior
