this song's just me trying to hold on to my marbles..every now and then i can be a bit of a flake and just sink beneath the waterline ....i suppose we're all a bit like that at some point...anywayyyy...the song is all about that.....the video footage came about like so much of the stuff i've done....i'd go out into town,sink a few extra strong cocktails and head out on to the street and just film anything...i was lucky that this guy came sweeping into view.....he wasn't homeless...but he was clearly falling apart , and at first he didn't like me filming him... .but i had enough tequila in me not to care...and after a while,he didn't care either...his heart was clearly broken about something,but i never did find out..even though i did take him for a sandwich after, to try and sober him up...he could hardly talk......but he was a real sweetheart.. and i sensed he was a brainy sort...i could tell that much...he looks great too..... i like how it's all just one long none-edited take just before it got dark.....and then some years later, when i put the song under it , the words just fitted the mans mood and situation perfectly......i hope you like it.....i'm very proud of this song.
i sometimes think i sound a little bit like art garfunkel in this one

a lot of people say that ,skinny.....i think me and peter gabriel maybe have similar shaped voice boxes...david bowie was my big passion when i was growing up,but of course i sound nothing like him.i'm glad people compare me to peter gabriel though...he's given his life to music.
