@newvisionamy Just saw a comment above,,,Using powertools in an initial step means NOTHING to the final product. Strad would have use them himself. keep on your good work. : )

that is so cool...i really am willing to learn how to make violins..my father has a whole collection of them, and i dont like to play them(i dont know how to play), but i am amazed by the violin itself, and would like to learn how to make them. Are ther any schools that teach violin making near Los Angeles, CA? im only 15yrs.

I'm actually only 17, been making violins for about 3 years, cant say ricky skaggs plays my fiddles, haha, but they arent bad, really. Going to apply for the Violin Making School of Cremona in the next few months. We'll see how that goes. I live in Florida.

Intresting use of puting holes in the vioin with that thing he held it in with.. and.. the dremel... too bad Im one of thoes violinmakers who are completely opposed to power tools. If you are trying to make a violin like strad did, that means no powertools haha. neat video though. Nice sounding fiddle, a little tinny in the double stops. Pretty, round sound. Strad wasnt quite 500 years ago, haha, 1700.

Thanks for your comments. I know about the 500 years and we are re-shooting that. Some pretty famous people play Arthur's fiddles including Ricky SKaggs and Gene Elders, to name a few. How long have you been making fiddles? Where are you located. I am making a documentary on fiddle makers. This one on Arthur is a special project.
