Ok, so, this is NOT the big HD-movie...
I managed to get the HD-camera again for a couple of days and decided
to film today's training! It was very hot here in the Netherlands and the horses
still have some of their winterfur... I noticed that they where a little les active
as usual, I think due to the warm weather and burning sun ;)

I trained the rearing with Flip today, I love to see big movements with his legs like a film-horse! He is able to rear on several ways, this is the newest one.

Shilas is now learning the piaffe and it is going ok so far! I don't know the right 'buttons' to press for him to go in the piaffe, but we both are working on it. He likes doing it so i'm happy with his progress!

Enjoy!

  • 1:33 is such a great trick.

    I've never seen before. *-*

  • Thanks! You haven't? Hmmm, it's a pretty common trick with the experienced horses and trainers, but it's hard to train and it takes a lot of power from the horse.

  • This is so amazing. The bond you have with your horses is beautiful to watch!

one question.. how do you teach them to lay down? ive started tricktraining with my boy, and he does simple stuff like paw and "kiss", but id love to teach him to lay! x

  • Thank you! I tought them to lay down by natural behaviour, I went swimming with them and they started rolling in the sand because they where wet. I rewarded that with a cookie and used a vocal command (down) to let them here that down means lay down. Both of them learned it very quick with this method!

  • at 1:41 it was amazing how he could walk on his hind legs.

And i love how you pat your horses and ponies because a lot of people don't pat there horses.

Is the horse a a haflinger.

About all I can say is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tnx! I think it's important to praise your horse rather than punish and force. Tricktraining (for me at least) is based on teamwork, fun, patience and learning together. It doesn't matter how long it takes to learn a trick, as long as you do it together :) Yes, the big horse is a haflingergelding indeed!
