  • Great video, but I wish the camera was closer to him and showing his stance, ball/club position in greater detail.

  • @tomwmartin Go have a look at my "Buried Bunker Shot; Shawn Clement" video; you will get a bird's eye view of the set up; also, in my Rhythm Training Series, I use the new Hero Cam to show all kinds of angles; including bunker shots. There is a hero cam video on course as well in my library; Shawn

  • Shawn, thanks for the video. I have tried your thought of imagining the momentum required to toss the sand to the hole. I have since had 3 sand shots in 2 games. 2 shots bounced in the hole for birdies (no lie). One went by the hole and stopped within "gimmie" range. I did open a 60 degree wedge with a cut swing. I surprised myself as I don't usually get my sand shots close to the hole. I hope I see more of it. Thanks again!

  • @myownstarbucks Make sure you are playing for sandies with your buddies next time; more gravy for you! :)

    Shawn

  • @myownstarbucks You will! :) Sounds like you got the feel and that lead to more confidence and that led to great performance! Just the kind of snow ball effect one would want!! :) Great comment! Thank you! Shawn

  • Maybe a stupid question, but does your grip change on the basic bunker shot. I used a strong grip. When I open the face, do i then just employ a neutral grip?

  • @cmterpsnskins That works very well; I have used this for several of my students; great question! Shawn

  • Another Great Video Shawn! Question, how would the bounce on the wedge have any significance and if so how would you use it? Charlie, Staten Island NY

  • This is the best lesson in bunker shots! thanks Shawn!

  • Super lesson! I tried this at the range today and it truly worked. Best thing about it was I wasn't focused on getting the ball onto the green from the bunker but imagining how much momentum it would take to get the divot of sand out. I also had a huge smile after I easily got a plugged ball out using the closed face position. Thanks! You truly are the #1 most popular golf teacher on youtube. Ian, Philippines.

  • Hi Shawn

What about the other details like "brace","spine angle", "spine tilt","weight" etc. for the bunker shot. The arm club unit will need to be in front of the chest like other shots of course, right. Could you elaborate a little on those aspects also. Thanks

  • Shawn, thanks for the encouragements. Since I last report. I have not had anymore birdies from the sand but I had saved pars on 1/2 of my sand shots. I am feeling a lot more confident now. My buddies are starting to make comments like "where did you learn your sand shots?"
