  • I am 28 and had this exact surgery done two and a half years ago. Mine was at C4/5 vs. the C6/7 done here. My doctor was hesitant about performing the surgery on someone my age, but because I had herniated discs at C4/5 and C6/7 and had tried physical therapy, epidural shots, and every other type of non-surgical treatment, surgery was the last resort. I've had a lot of luck with the replacement--motion is great, but I still deal with the problems at C6/7. Maybe someday I'll get it done too.

  • @11maebelle I hope you are feeling well in regards to your neck. Remember to try to maintain fitness with exercise and stretching!

  • @ALEX165ALICKI My doctor told me that doing ones right beside each other wasn't advised. He put it that after the C4/5 replacement disc was inserted, the discs to the top and bottom were going to be doing double time the work. So doing two right next to each other would put way too much load bearing on the surrounding discs and prevent proper healing and flexibility. But he did say that due to surrounding discs working harder, it's inevitable that in the future I will have this surgery again.

  • @11maebelle Why did they not do it all at the same time that they were already inside your neck.?

  • is the patient laying on their tommy for the surgery? I need this surgery but I have no private insurance so I don't think they will do it from public hospital. I am not sure if is good to do this, you may have heaps of other problems after the surgery because you have the artificial disc in your spine. thanks for posting.

  • Hi I am doing a literature review on this procedure, mainly from the point of pre- and post op rehabilitation. Can you guide me to any articles of interest. Thank you.

  • i have the same problem. do you feel pain on ur right brain whenever u bend? i have multilevel degenerative disk desease . i need to replace 4 of them. is it same?

  • Mine is C6/7. I'm currently waiting on an appeal from the mfg. rep since my insurance (UHC) is pending for this procedure. My doctor said many insurance companies still claim this as experimental. If it's rejected I'll get a fusion.

  • I love Dr. Larsen. I am still hurting from my 4 level fusion he did but Dr. Larsen is kind, compassionate and a terrific surgeron. He would be kinder if he would take my family to Iout of the vacation with him next time!! There is no better PA then Mary. they make and awesome team.
