Support the charity Link Community Development to install a solar panel, computer, printer and internet connection at a rural African school or resource centre in Malawi, Ghana, South Africa or Uganda. Link will provide training on how to use and maintain the equipment.
This enables teachers to communicate with the district education office and with colleagues locally and internationally without leaving their local area. They will spend more time teaching and children can spend more time learning.
Schools in rural parts of Africa can be very isolated, located miles from the nearest town and without access to electricity, transport and communication networks. Running a school involves a lot of administration and in isolated rural areas this can entail long journeys away from school. We estimate that over 25% of teacher and head teacher time is wasted on these journeys.
Solar Connect helps teachers to bring ICT studies to life with practical experience and to access new training and learning resources online, improving the quality of education they deliver.
