You took a course to learn how to change a tire? You to a course on how to take the gauges off and put the caps on a torch? What is that like a an hour long course? I think I learned that when I was like 10. It doesn't really matter, if it wasn't for orgaized labor throughout history you would be working for pennies like a Chinaman. I got most of all my course through an oil rig company out in Swift Current Saska non union, others I picked up through a College i went to. the Useless ones like using a ladder cleaning food handling ones like that were through the union. the company i work for now Treats me very well pay i like My full benefits cover 100% 80$ a months, and since i live in Canada it is 100% free I pay nothing trust me i go every 3 month to the dentist lol

I have so many courses, First aid CPR2,Fall rest,H2S ALIVE, Survival Extreme course forklift/bobcat/boom (1-8ppl) /overhead crain class 1(30-65)tons,A1-D5/, WHMIS, Rigging Course, Padi lvl 4 under water diver course ,Welding 2 years full course with 9 year 6 year certified,1 years advance welding course also a 1 machinist course. Asbestos and hazardous material removal course, proper lifting procedure course, communication course, CRS/DOS/Encryption works, heavy equipment repair/calibrate,

@GONELAZYGOUNION I've worked 1 month in the passed 6, it's construction that just the way it is. I worked nonunion for $15/hr (their welders were only making $18), then got a union job for $25 plus benefits. I now make $32 with $22/hr benefit package. You still make overtime over 40 hrs, which Unions invented. You still have safety programs and work comp, which unions invented. My country built itself with Union labor and did great, not until globalization and outsourcing came did it fall apart

@nktank84 cherubini is the biggest metal works company no brag fact. I am very well treated their, I've worked for 2 unions before payed 667$ each and waited for a called i got 2 months of work for 1 waited 5 months and worked 5 months for another waited 7 months, had to paint houses to make ends meet. I work none union for 4 years now i make a lot more with my own office and work house. union pay is 25.50 I'm paid 55.85 and i'm only 26 years of age also free courses up the ass.

@GONELAZYGOUNION I'm sorry man but you have been lied to and brain washed, probably by the company you brag about. Unions are not hurting you, they are there to help you. They are there to help you get better wages and benefits, to keep you from getting fired for bullshit reasons. To keep you safe and healthy on the job, honestly what is wrong with that? Maybe corporattions don't have a strangle hold on Canada, but they do here and Uniting is the only way to fight them.

Safety programs are for dummies? China has no safety programs, 5,000 miners die in there every year, vs. under 50 in the US. Safety programs include respirator requirements and all that shit that keeps men healthy. Here in America Corporate America is well represented, the only Lobbyists workers have is UNIONS.

@nktank84 OK there are many exception to every rule. but the point of the story most ppl take advantage of the union functions. Not every single union worker is lazy but most are, nurses and mine workers work hard no question, but safety programs are mainly for dummies, should be common sense soccer moms stop making stupid course soon we'll need a course to bang a hammer, or put your keys in your car for fuck sakes. this day and age their is no need for a union
