Toni Collette interview on ROVE (live in studio with Rove McManus) promoting her television series United States of Tara.

Australias own Hollywood superstar, Toni is one of our finest actresses, talented singer/songwriter, and now making it big on the small screen with her new TV series United States of Tara.
Toni became a superstar at home and abroad with her portrayal as Muriel Heslop in 1994s 'Muriels Wedding', proving her ability to transform into the characters she plays and going on to star in a variety of intriguingly diverse roles.

Most recently, she has featured in 'The Black Balloon', the animated film 'Mary and Max' and the ensemble 'Towelhead'. In 2007, she starred in the Hollywood flick 'Evening', co-starring Vanessa Redgrave. The same year she starred in the Australian childrens film 'Hey Hey Its Esther Blueburger'. Other films have included the Oscar-nominated comedy 'Little Miss Sunshine', 'Tsunami: The Aftermath' which earned Toni both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, 'The Night Listener' with Robin Williams and Sandra Oh, 'Like Minds' alongside Richard Roxburgh, 'In Her Shoes' with Cameron Diaz, 'Connie and Carla', 'The Last Shot', 'Shaft' with Samuel L. Jackson, 'The Sixth Sense' for which she earned an Oscar nomination and the mystery / thriller, 'The Dead Girl' alongside Josh Brolin.

Toni received some of the best reviews of her career for the film 'Japanese Story' receiving critical acclaim and an AFI Award for Best Lead Actress in a Lead Role.

In 2002, Toni appeared in four films including; 'Changing Lanes', 'Dirty Deeds', 'About a Boy' and the critically acclaimed film 'The Hours'. Toni has also had the opportunity to demonstrate her talents on Broadways stage. In 2000 she starred in the highly anticipated revival of 'The Wild Party' alongside Mandy Patinkin and Eartha Kitt.

Tonis new TV series has been a hit in the States, with Steven Speilberg and Junos Diablo Cody as Executive Producers. Diablo also created and wrote the series. It sees Toni star as a seemingly ordinary suburban housewife and mother, who has dissociative identity disorder where she displays multiple identities and personalities. United States of Tara airs from Wednesday 29th July 9.30pm on ABC TV.

  • I freakin love this girl!!! She's amazing I think the best actress. To be able to switch up and do all those roles in united states of tara that's crazy just seems real : )

  • it's so weird seeing her talk in an aussie accent all of a sudden oh wow XD

I LOVE HERRRRRRRRRR she is amazingggggg

  • @whoknows2007 she Aussie. Like me :)

  • She does an amazing English accent, in About a Boy. I'm English and I'd never have guessed she wasn't English too.

  • @JEnokokame I know that.

  • @MrSonicboom07

Don't forget there's also Naomi Watts, Cate Blancett, Russell Crowe etc, they're all talented Australian actresses & actors too.

There's actually many talented film & TV actors and actresses in America who are from Australia, but those you and I mentioned including Toni, are some of the big Aussie superstars in Hollywood.

  • One of the many great talents about Australian actors & actresses in Hollywood (apart from their talent in acting itself) is that many of them can really nail the American accent, to the point when they often can fool you into believing they're Americans.

  • HAPPY 39TH BIRTHDAY, TONI COLLETTE, A.K.A, MS. SEXY LEGS!!!

  • What I love about great actors is that when you see their character on screen, and they're acting with a different accent, you tend to automatically think that maybe that's the way they speak IRL. Then you see vids like this and you're BLOWN away...lol VERY talented woman.
