HUNDREDS continued to gather and show their support for the Tiverton Foxhounds when they galloped through the town centre on Boxing Day.Cold conditions meant that no hunting could take place, and the ice had kept some horses in their stables, but it didn't stop the annual meet outside the market and trailing through the cheering people on Fore Street.
Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for Tiverton & Honiton Neil Parish was there to support the hunt, and vowed that a Tory government would ask for a repeal of the Fox Hunting Act of 2004.
The final passing of the legislation which came into force in February 2005 was considered very controversial with many newspapers and broadcasters condemning Tony Blair's Labour administration for giving in to what they perceived as the prejudicial views of anti-hunting Labour backbenchers.
we still hunt, not only in defiance of this misinformed and unjustified "ban" but because it's a necessary thing to do to keep the countryside the townies romanticise safe, healthy and balanced. To call masters and huntsmen (who are there to do a job) and followers (whose membership solely supports this part of upkeep and find 'sport' in the enjoyment of the countryside and rarely witness the kill) "posh" is lazy and wrong. Ask questions before forming conclusions, this is all we ask.

I have heard about this hunt that drive out good people from their country homes. A hunt in Tiverton left dead bits of deer on the gate of a hunt opponent. Their hounds killed a deer calf in front of its mother and then went back for her! All this happened on Sam's land - eventually forcing her to sell up. Hunts are just a bunch of bigots, thugs and cowards that get off killing defenceless animals for fun. SOME OF US ARE NOT INTIMIDATED BY YOUR THUGS SO YOUR DAYS OF BEASTING WILL SOON BE OVER!

@IntellectualAmy people wouldnt purposefully watch something they dislike why waste your own time doing that? if you dont like hunting, dont watch the video your comments werent valid they were just bitchy if you dont like hunting actually point out the bits you dont like rather than slag of 'the people of tiverton' all together. saying hunting is barbaric is much better than saying pity the people of tiverton have nothing better to do than watch red jacketed dildos on horseback

@JanineAH - My comments are valid. Yes, watching the lovely horses and hounds is nice but you fail to see what the end product of the day is - and that's the probability that an animal will face an horrific death. Janine - well, I don't know if you know this, but there are actually people who do go to the cinema, watch a film, then make comments about it. I think they call them film critics.

@IntellectualAmy well i just liked watching the horses and the hounds and i really fail to understand why people who know they dont like hunting or anything to do with choose to watch a video and then put a pathetic comment about how much they dont like it i mean you wouldnt go to the cinema and watch something you know you wont like and then complain just for the sake of it would you

@JanineAH - would you rather I applaud them? If people - correction - decent people - actually stood up to these sadists they'd be history. Alas - the majority don't. So what brings you here, Janine?
