  • Ok who had it first? The Police or Dusty Springfield?

  • @countessbraley

Sting wrote it, and gave it to Dusty...it's very likely this is the very demo he gave her.

  • thanks so much for uploading this! where in the world did you find it? :)

  • @kakadoodoo3000

    Online...just search around.

  • Hey, POLICEchout, I was looking for Police demos on the net and I found out there's another version of this track (take 1 of it, actually). Do you happen to have it? I never found it to download. Thanks!

  • @chomanomann No, this is all I have! I'd love to hear it.

  • I love all of those so-called weak songs from Synchronicity. There's only one Police track that has ever bothered me, and that's Don't Stand So Close To Me '86. I've never understood everyones hatred for Mother. The music is awesome and Andy cracks me up...I love him! The way he sings it fits the lyrics. Plus, I love the dark side of The Police.

  • Ok so it's a really great song.

  • es excluyente del album ghost in the machine, pero es agradable al oido , la voz de Sting le dá el sello inconfundible de The Police, pero es pegajosa y adictiva a la primera.-

  • @ketchup143 AGREED!

  • @Don1970

mother is a great song.... odd, strange, uncomfortable, intense.

    thx andy!

  • It is a matter of taste of course but there are some songs from the Synchronicity - era that would have benefitted other kind of lyrics such as "Once upon the daydream" or King of Pain. According to some books Sting became big headed around "Zenyatta" already suggesting just Stewart's drums on his demos leaving Andy out and that other's compositions would not even be listened at all.

  • Now THIS one sounds like it could almost be a Steely Dan track. This one is really pretty interesting -- Would certainly have been interesting if they actually recorded it (IE: Stewart's DRUMS!)

  • @POLICEchout thanks. :)

  • @ketchup143 Oh i dont have any problem with GITM tracks, just so many have been overplayed (like on Synchronicity, I could go 100 lifetimes without hearing Every Breath You Take) as to make them seem 'weak'.

This song is allright here, not so much on Dusty's album.
