With the popularity of "playground" companies like AND1 and there mixtapes and the abundance of "from nothing to something" superstars in the NBA, I believe the general character/image of your typical pro basketball player has changed over the past 50 years . . . There is indeed a mix of your portrayal of "playground" and "pro" basketball, i mean look at players like Rafer Alston. Playground ball got him a pro ball career . . .

I don't think it can be looked at as playground vs pro, its the difference/thin line between confidence and cockiness.

KG showed up many times for the Wolves and Celtics, game in and game out, but does that entitle him to heckle and abuse opposing point guards as he did this past season?

Fair enough, but if your going to be on a team that was criticized by the coach and gm for lacking toughness and energy, wouldn't it be a positive way to make an impact ? Aside from improving his shot and team defence, I don't think there could be many other things better for the Raptors if Demar came with a similar "rowdy" swagger that Rajon Rondo brought with himself to the Celtics . . .

I've been playing basketball over 50 years, you don't yell and try to mix playground with professional ball, I realize some guys yell, stick their tongue out but the only people who are really entitles to do that are people who show up game in and game out and aren't just some new kid acting rowdy

He hasn't been timid since stepping on the hardwood. He's driven to the basket countless times which allowed him to go to the line more than anyone on his team and opponents in the pre-season.
