on the 48th anniversary of Algeria's independance day I'd like to share this movie with you all, a movie that was produced in 1969 by the Algerian movie producer Ahmed Rachedi from a Mouloud Maameri book.
this film portrait the daily struggle of the inhabitants of a djurdjura village to rid their lives of the oppressing & imposing french army by helping the FLN in each and every way possible.

  • Ils sont Kabyles; les tenues, les décors sont authentiques. Mais on les fait parler en arabe. Quelle connerie! Il est permis de parler en francais, en arabe mais pas en kabyle. Au nom de l'arabo-islamisme. Cela montre bien le racisme du régime algérien envers la langue kabyle. En meme temps la faiblesse de la langue arabe: on est obligé de sous-titrer en arabe classique pour que les vrais arabes du Moyen Orient comprennent l'arabe dialectal algérien. Vive la Kabylie autonome !
