The question is "why is it SO hard for you to listen to us, Deaf Survivors? We know better what is best for our future Deaf children, you are NOT!!

In addition, my parents would never force us to use voices at home; we just invented homemade signs in order to communicate with each other. At school, in fact, we were forced to use voices because Illinois government and Board of Education invested in providing oral education while I was from Kindergarten to grade six. Then, education philosophy changed to Total Communication; it means use voice and sign at the same time. That is the biggest joke of the world.

  • The evidence that I do struggle with English is blamed on oral education in the early education: elementary programs.
