@MySupaFli The ends do not plug in to anything. You just have to heat up the solder and set the part into place.

I'm having the same exact problem... I took it apart, and sure enough, that same diode was stuck in the same place you described... I was wondering, do the ends plug into anything, or did you just set it down on the circuit board and solder it in place?

@Playbyplaymedia I think the Flip I have is the 1st or 2nd generation. I would agree with you though. Most likely it is some kind of USB. If I had one it would be fun to try and experiment with it.

Anyone with the technical gifts could increase their popularity by finding a way to access the capability of the Flip UltraHD FlipPort on the 3rd generation camera. Two models of external microphones were soon to be released when Cisco pulled the plug on Flips. Shame. The FlipPort seems to be a mini USB.

@TheJohnHobart Hey that's what its all about man. It was music to my ears reading your comment. That's why I dedicated my entire channel to How-To videos. Thanks for subscribing, liking and commenting. I really appreciate that.

how did you know right where that broken piece needed to be? Because you did not mention much detail about figuring that out, just showed it being soldered back on.

@Quick2000 Luckily my dad is an electrical engineer so he has a much better eye for this type of thing than I do. To him it was very obvious where the missing part should be located. There really aren't that many other options in the same relative location on the circuit board. We knew where the part was getting stuck between the "stopper" and the chasis. Directly above that location we found two solder points that matched the loose component perfectly. Good question.

Not sure what you are meaning by "stopper" Big Nate? My power button started not returning all the way back out after being depressed, so whatever is supposed to keep tension on it is messed up. Not sure if this is the same exact thing you had with yours.

@Quick2000 I think you might have a different problem. If you go to 1:22 of this video there is a black piece of plastic that the tweezers are pointing to. This black piece of plastic is what I am calling the "stopper". Its stops the tripod from screwing in too deep. You'll notice that this is not near the power button. It is near the mounting point and HDMI port. However this component that got stuck on the "stopper" effects the functionality of the power button.
