Film Workshop's 25-year memory lane Ever since their debut feature 'Shanghai Blues' in 1984, power couple Tsui Hark and Nansun Shi have created several films through Film Workshop that has come to define modern Hong Kong cinema.
The Workshop has produced trendsetting films such as John Woo's 'A Better Tomorrow' and 'The Killer' which established the whimsical gun-toting genre while 'Once Upon a Time in China' re-defined martial arts films and propelled Jet Li into stardom.
In honour of their 25th anniversary, the Hong Kong International Film Festival in conjunction with agnès b presents "A Tribute to Romantic Visions", an exhibition showcasing Film Workshop's cinematic gems over the years. Prior to the exhibition's opening, Tsui Hark and Nansun Shi tell us about their recipe for success.
