Service Dogs and the the laws surrounding them are very misunderstood in this country. Few people know that they come under the American's With Disabilities Act and to interfere with the dog or owner is a violation of both State and Federal law. This video will give both owners and those they come into contact with a better understanding of both State and Federal Law.
"Gatekeepers", law enforcement, and judges may ask, "Are you disabled?"," Is that a service dog?", and "What tasks has the dog been trained to do to assist you?". I believe San Diego County Dept. of Animal Control is exceeding its authority by requiring applicants for CA Assistance Dog tags to identify whether the dog is a guide, signal, or service dog (or in training as one) and what tasks the dog has been or will be trained to perform, but I filled it out, anyway.

No one at the San Diego Kmart into which my husband and I went with my very well-behaved service dog-in -training harassed me, nor did anyone at the neighboring grocery store with a deli where we ate dinner. Before his vest arrived we were denied access to a restaurant because without his being "dressed", no one would believe he was a service-dog-in-training. After he got it, we were welcome, though. Now that I have his CA Assistance Dog tag, I may go back with him "undressed" to educate them!

@DiamondsFaith Due to the separation of Church and State, churches aren't legally obligated to comply with the ADA. Many will allow service dogs, though - especially if someone takes the time to explain their need for theirs. I'm a Mormon, and while I've seen service dogs in churches, they are forbidden in our temples. I plan to do all I can to change this, as I'm training my service dog, my husband will begin training his soon, and we want to be sealed in eternal marriage there someday.

@DiamondsFaith I have a Service dog too. I have Cerebral Paley. I have been rejected twice. Once of the bus company. Also that a mall in Montreal. The best advice that I give you. Is call the place where you got your service do, and tell them what the problem was. Or tell the employer by law Guide, Hearing, and Service dogs are allowed in public places. I hoe this helps.

Very well said I stopped shopping at K-Mart a long time ago because I could tell they didn't like me & my service dog there i'll send in another comment about a church in my area that's as bad as K-Mart if not worse. I wish they gave more comment space here on youtube.
