Shar pei do very well with children. I have a three year old brother and him and my sharpei are like best friends. my brother can do anything with my shar pei, even take things out of her mouth, she won't care at all.
The only time i see my shar pei gets agressive is with strangers, when we aren't around (like when she stays at the petshop for bathing).
But if you introduce your guests properly, the sharpei will be very recepctive and full of joy!

@halfgoodhalfevil I've had my Shar Pei for 13 years, still alive and still going strong. She's SO good with children, and she's so loyal to our family. We're always thinking about her; as soon as our newborn was born 5 years ago she knew right away to be gentle with the baby and she always gets defensive when strangers touch our baby, who is now 5 and she STILL gets defensive over him. Such a great dog.

they are good with children.. I have 2 Shar Pei`s. If you train them well when they are young... they are the perfect dogs! :) Training with clicker is the easyest way to train shar pei. But... Shar Pei have one weard thing, sometimes you cant get contakt with them. Its like they are in their one bouble. thats why they are hard to train. So, if you use the clicker, most of the work with them are easy :)
But if this is the first dog for you, i would pick another breed....

I've heard that shar-peis are good with children and I've heard that shar-peis "tolerate" children only when they've grown up with them. Which is it? Can somebody who owns a Shar-pei give their input?
