So why isn't Carter your #1 hero--talk about compassion and job creation. Yet Carter gets crucified for pointing out racist attitudes or unfair treatment of Palestinians. You're asking for a proactive black president like Jesse jackson. Where is Jesse? You think Obama can't survive without strategic tactics and playing his cards with calculating judiciousness? He'd be as effective and welcome as Jesse Jackson if he did your bidding.

You forgot? he's "post-racial"? Come off it! It's ALL about race. it always has been, Chris, despite your compressing the world to your narrow Irish-Catholic view. how about word choices and sentences with some thought behind them? How about reading Faulkner (Sound and Fury, Absalom! Absalom!) and O'Connor? Or Baldwin? you're circumscribed and limited by your anachronistic little Camelot worldview. Without Obama, America would be hopeless following Iraq. God willing he get a 2nd term.

Racism is deeply engrained in the minds of this Puritan-settled nation that sacrificed over a million lives over color--and within the life-time of my grandfather! Read Faulkner. It was unthinkable to have an infinitesimal trace of black blood in a family in which the plantation patriarch otherwise populated the back sheds with "pick-in-ninnies" that didn't count as family. The C&W wing nuts are Faulkner's white trash, requiring inferiors to validate their own superiority.

"I forgot (Obama) was black." Oh puh-leez. Most of us critics of (some of) Obama's destructive policies don't even think about Obama's skin color...until somebody like Chris Matthew regurgitates the topic.

@jlsinternet ->This whole "black" hoax is manufactured. Call him "black" (when he's 50-50 black-white), then disagreement w/ him is platform to shout "RACIST"
He's as white as he is black. More white, obviously aligned w/ "white" he promotes policies that benefit ruling elite (white) over policies that benefit non-elite, regular people, which includes white, black, and every other race located in the middle & lower eschelons - working class, disabled, economically-challenged.
