For an explanation of the Feminist movement in the West, please watch the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=498LAA5sc8U

It is not Islam that restricts the Muslim women; it is actually the cultures and traditions of Muslim societies which has limited the role of women. Islam has liberated women and gave them rights.

  • ---Religious texts are given new -even strikingly new- interpretations all the time. Why shouldn't this be true for the Quran as well?

  • My point was that the Quran shouldn't be interpreted in a way where it is twisted to suits someone's own agenda.

Most importantly the quran should be interpreted by learned scholars who are well educated in the history, arabic language and the hadith. Basically the quran should not just be interpreted by the average joe.

Also new interpretations and discoveries of the Quran are appearing even recently. especially in the field of science.

  • maculinity and feminity is NOT the same in all cultures. had youresearched you wud have discovered that there were many tribes that had equality between the sexes or even women the dominant sex. also, in ancient islam women had a lot more rights than today, they had properties, made decisions, were warriors and had jobs such as commerce, tday islam is going backwards Muslims plz learn ur religion and history, u hve great teachings, dnt lose it due to bad interpretation from some supremacists

  • human beings want to be free. no one likes to be enslaved or controlled. No group of men would be happy being under the control of another group, and neither are women happy if they are controlled by men. western women faught against their slavery, and now muslim women are starting to as well. this is not just a western phenomenon, though women in western nations are more likely to speak up because they are less likely to be harmed if they do.

  • hey nice vid u should add that a couple years ago an indonesian feminist wanted pornogrpahy allowed in indonesia to "liberate women" is what she said so i think the western powers use feminism counter clockwise in islamic countries whereas in america feminists are against porn

  • @MsBionomics it isnt just muscle its also analytic and rational cognitive cababilities that women lack in alot of areas of profession

  • What a BS video. Doesn't even deserve a response.

  • Men have about 25% mor muscles per kilo body weight, have a bigger lung and are heavier.

In almost all societies this was enough to BEAT women into obedience. This is the sole reason why in historic terms patriachalic societies are more common than matriachalic ones.

In mordern societies muscles are of no interest. Women in the West graduate more often and with higher grades than men. They are the hence the backbone of our economy.

  • @klila16 The man who made this video I supose it isnt a scholar so why should only scholar chalenge what has been sad? And there are rarely unbiased perspectives. A lot of scholars have been influnced by the tradition of the place, women from their lives e.t.c.

Why not ask women what they think about the rights, islamic feminism or chauvinism?

  • @ytcaptiveminds Sociology and psychology are siences too, why not implement the new findings with in the borders of Islam. I have found one scholar who does that and it seems to me it is the right thing.

    I didnt like the video

Women and men are not equal? I thought the Islamic view is that they are equal in front of God just they are different.

You should pay attention to Islamic chauvinism, that is more real but you are a man so it is understandable.

  • @AuDacitYofTruTh while I can take this vid with a grain of salt, I admire this person for voicing their opinions. The point he makes is a good one. Islam has its own culture, and will define the roles of men and women in its own way. For someone to challenge this they should b scholarly, and able to understand the culture properly from an unbiased perspective. In many ways what happened in the west is challenging because it hasn't resulted in a utopic but rather it can be percieved as dystopic.

  • @ytcaptiveminds The Koran should be interpreted by anyone who can read; it should be twisted, convoluted and spun by learned scholars, so that they can try and dissemble about the basic facts:

    Mohammed personally killed many people-

The Koran recommends killing in many situations-

The Koran does not view women as 'different, but equal' but as inferior to men in all things-

Islam is a backward religion of hate and intolerance, and a social system based on bigotry and ignorance.

  • Charles Darwin was not himself an advocate of Social Darwinism as this video claims. I am not sure why saying that Galton is Darwin's (Half, by the way) cousin makes him some kind of extension of Darwin. Darwin strongly criticized Galton's views, and no scholar I know who writes on the life of Darwin would consider him a Social Darwinist. Get your facts straight before making such claims.

  • THANK YOU for this great video!! Some people really need to rethink and consider their words carefully before labeling themselves with such tags!

I have always questioned the need for a 'feminist' label when one is already a Muslim!!! Isn't that already enough!?
