Deadly clashes ahead of Liberian vote

At least three people have been killed in an exchange of gunfire between Liberian police and protesters as a mass opposition rally in Monrovia, the capital, turned violent on the eve of a presidential election runoff vote.

Don't confuse the current election violence with the Civil War. The civil war ended 9 years ago. Liberia for the most part is relatively peaceful. People are not fighting each other in the countryside at the moment. The only serious violence other than the election is land disputes which are being solved by the national and regional courts.

I also found it amusing that the Liberian warring groups during the civiil war would train its soldiers by making them watch Chuck Norris and Rambo movies....supposedly delta force and missing in action was a popular choice.

Yes insane but not to these guys. In a country where fact and superstition walk hand in hand. Even the so called Liberian christians and muslims practice cannibalism and human sacrifice.

I found it amusing that the Liberian pagans(Lofa) declared a "counter jihad" vs. the muslims who were desecrating their holy sites and enslaving them.

Liberia is a crazy war, makes the Vietnam war seem civilized and sane.

Yes General Joshua Butt Naked Blayhi....now a christian evangelist in monrovia...the guy was totally insane during the war, fought naked, cannibalized and sacrificed infants. Converted to christianity during a visit by angels.

The Liberians wars had generals with weird names like general rambo, general bin laden, general 24 hours, captain mission impossible, Singbe the Magic dwarf etc. etc.ec.

I don't know much about this .... the USA & its personnel lead that... and this particular country they had not led to me yet.. like housing rep & she became not rich; but the fbi agents/wifes in Buffalo NY had and continued to air Evangelism on Virginia Beach Popular Christian shows .... They are the muscle-prone & for the last 20 yrs have been on tv AND while all mankind thought hsg was A-ok and prosperous. I was amnesiac & had finance major/economics classes are like 23 in number. No Way!

Well they are actually high on brown brown, Crack cocaine mixed with gunpowder....

Heroin makes people sleepy while crack cocain makes them aggressive. Heroin is not a good combat drug.

Besides being cross dressed, they actually fight naked too.

Liberia has the weirdest civil war in the world.

Personally between Sirleaf or Tubman...Sirleaf is the much better choice. Tubman worked for Doe who ran the country to the ground.

Doe got what he deserved(Tortured,killed and cannibalized while being filmed by a Palestenian news crew while Prince Johnson watched sipping a Budweiser). Doe's torutre videos were sold locally and abroad. Supposedly they found a majic juju amulet up Doe's asshole(yes magic does not work but superstition is strong in Liberia)....I KID YOU NOT...
