I've been struggling with a piece from section A Grade 6 2007/08. This was my first choice - sorry, first 2 pages only & it ends badly! I've now switched to Sonata in F by Casanovas because I don't think I'll perfect this is time for my exam.

Thought I'd still post this messy attempt though as there aren't many versions out there yet & I personally still like to hear other peoples versions, even when they're still in the practice stage! :-)

  • Sorry for the bad comment. That was my brother on my account. This interpretation isn't bad at all. Some of the Grade 8 songs are easier than this song. Jeez

  • the pedalling in this piece is quite important...And also be careful of trying to play at an impressive speed and not thinking of the phrase line and where it is going. Emphasizing first beats after the runs and pulling back just enough for dramatic effect. Also make sure that you don't change the tempo suddenly. This is imporrtant as it is an early Baathoven work, written when he was twelve, where he was influenced by Bach.

  • Beethoven still can't fuck with Mozart ever... Symphony No. 40 in G minor is the best music ever written in all genres throughout all history including other planets and galaxies!!! Anybody who feels differently has been swayed by some gay music instructor!!! Mozart is the shit!

  • I pwned this piece, but still failed by 3 marks because I can't Sight Read or do Oral :(

  • did u say dis was messy? my exams in 2 weeks & im nothin on that!!!!!

  • i played this piece for my grade 6, but a slower tempo.

  • I saw a podcast from two of Mario Ajero's students which I found helpful for learning piano. The idea is to concentrate on the measures in the music that give the most trouble. Though it is geared for Music teachers, it gave me (as a student) some techniques on how to run through difficult piano passages. Try to isolate the difficult measure (and keep the goals for a practice session tangible to minimize frustration) and practice it until you master that, then move on. Hope that helps...

  • very good for a piece that you didn't even end up playing!

    tip:

keep the tempo even throughout. It's better to play all slow that some parts fast and others slow

  • Here in England and how i have to do it i'm doing the ABRSM exams and i have to do Grade 5 theroy in order to do Grade 6 pratical (playing my instrument). Hope this has explained or a least made a bit clear.

  • I was playing this one, but i couldnt handle the speed (specifically the semiquavers) and have now finished working on SOnata in F,

Im hopig to do A:3 B:3 C:1 (G6) IN MARCH

My fav by far is melodie although i also really enjoyed doing Four Calling Birds.

  • you need to bring out the melody a little more. =/

especially towards the end, with the right hand, you need to tone it down. the left hand is the melody and it needs to be brought out more.

but great tempo and differentiation of dynamics. =]
