This is a one-minute clip from the 1979 cartoon "Tukiki and His Search for a Merry Christmas." Notice how similar the animation is to the 1982 Raymond Briggs film "The Snowman," though I don't think any of the same animators were involved.

By the way, this clip is the only well-animated part of "Tukiki." The rest of the show is typical cheap '70s television animation.

  • I watched the whole special once, and one of the animators listed in the credits was Stephen Weston...the same Stephen Weston who gets special credit for animating the flying scenes in "The Snowman."

How much do you want to bet he animated this scene?

There's also a similar flying sequence at the end of "The Christmas Raccoons," which Weston is *also* credited on...perhaps we could consider these two to be the precursors to the "Snowman" flying scenes...

  • Thanks so much for this info! I didn't know that.

  • I LOVE this Christmas special! It was always one of my favorites when I was a kid!

  • It's a *guess*, actually...but I'm 90% sure of this...

  • OMG!!! I haven't seen this little show in years! My parents had it on vhs when I was six. Thank you for bringing back some holiday memories. Merry Christmas from the Emerald City!
