This was live video of Fox affiliate WJW Channel 8's analog shut off on June 12, 2009 at 10:00AM EDT. Anchor/reporter Todd Meany and chief engineer Jim Snell were in the transmitter facility of WJW in Parma, which also served as WJW's original studio facilities back when it signed on as WXEL Channel 9 in 1949. (So you could say it has come full circle.)

Both WJW's analog signal and digital signal had to be shut off when the conversion took place, as WJW-DT's signal moved back to channel 8 from its' temporary home of channel 31. Therefore, after Meany said "punch it, Jim" there was a one-to-two minute wait for rescanning on my cable system until it could pick up WJW's local 10AM talk show, "That's Life" (which was previously recorded).

  • I wish Anolog was back. Because FCC forgot about those who don't have cable or satellite. Or those who just can't afford it!
