This is my first bicycle commuting crash. Self inflicted. A little road rash and a bruised ego. The cars to the left had been a little too close and I was trying to keep an eye on them when I turned around I was sliding against the curb.
Broke my computer mount and helmet camera mount. Luckily that was all.

  • Is your camera ok? Omg...I hope it is ;-)

  • @lucaseq77 ha, camera is okay. Camera mount broke though :(

  • Geez that was close to the pole.

  • @seacowcorby I know! That is one of the reasons I bailed instead of trying to ride it out, and to avoid falling into the street.

  • I had a crash the other day aswell, except I ended up in a 5 foot deep trench full of nettles!!

  • @weshigh Ouch, Nicely avoided. Hope your ego is recovering well

  • oops. glad you're ok.

  • It does seem to be the distractions that cause the worse events, sadly as cyclists we are more prone to distraction due to so many dangerous, threatening and intimidating drivers taking our attention away from the task at hand, I personally try not to look back too often, unless changing direction, (but I do use a mirror) there is very little you can do about the hazards approaching you from behind. I have come close to doing this myself!

  • OUCH.. been there done that a few times. at least you didn't hit that pole.
