American beauty finds lost picture after 50 years. Film by David Grange recording Mrs Valerie Tarantolo the sitter in one of our favourite paintings returning to see her portrait after more than 50 years. She is the sitter for the Ugly Ducking by Frank Cadogan Cowper which hangs in Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum. This painting was bequeathed by the Summerfield Trustees through the Friends of Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum in 1989. It belonged to Ron Summerfield the well-known antique dealer and collector from Cheltenham who particularly wanted the painting to be hung in the Art Gallery & Museum in memory of his mother.
