If u erase u will have the same version. As to which when you download an Ipsw from Internet u need to put ur iPod into dfu mode. Search up how to enter dfu mode. When u go to iTunes a thing will pop up click ok. Press Shift+Click restore and select the ipsw. Ipsw is iOS version you want lik from iOS 4 down to 3.1 or something

okay I have a question I hope you can help I am a computer export I have the iphone 4 on Verizon running IOS 5.0,1 if I restore it through the phone by erasing all the data can I just power it up or will I have too use the USB cable too do the restore?
