In this tutorial follow Nick Lambert as he tracks a shot in PFhoe Pro and then uses that camera data in Nuke to rebuild the scene in 3D.

The footage and the matte used in this tutorial can be downloaded and used for learning purposes-

The cube tool is explained in this tutorial, how it is used to set the ground plane and field of view.

Special thanks to Adam Shell at Waveplay (www.waveplay.co.uk) for providing the footage in this tutorial.

  • There must be enough features for PFhoe to track, these are static points that are visible throughout the scene (and no moving objects that will interfere with the camera track). To enable PFhoe to successfully analyse the sequence and calculate the 3D information, the shot must exhibit perspective changes. See the "Intro to Matchmoving with PFhoe" video.

  • Where do i put the ground plane if i want my 3d helicopter in the sky?

  • @NiallHornProductions Can you see the ground in your material? As the name indicates, the ground plane should be set to the ground. You can select a feature that is located on the ground to help you set the ground plane.

  • Its best to use the forum for questions. Post in the forum and let us know what file format you are trying to work with? and what version of PFhoe? PFhoe works fine on Windows 7
