I didn't know, that the Austin Princess had been sold here in Germany. I'd never seen one.

The unions never killed off Leyland, the poor management did.  Poor conditions, design, engineering, plant, etc, etc.

In the mid-70s the Princess was a good looking advanced design. They stupidly did not put a hatch on it and that only came after about 5 years. The build quality was poor as Leyland were in turmoil. A few better features and VW build and the car would have been a raging success.
