Video showing the hike up Ryan Mountain to activate W6/CD-016. The peak sits at 5455 feet in Joshua Tree National Park, California USA. We opted for the hard way up the mountain as demonstrated in the video. More than enough contacts were made by N1OB and K6WUF to activate the peak. I hope you enjoy the scenery.

Video produced with:

Adobe Premier Pro CS4
Adobe After Effects CS4
Adobe Sound Booth CS4

This was my first try at using these programs. Please let me know what you think.

  • This is a great clip. I really enjoy following the SOTA clips here on Y-T especially WG0AT's. Great quality video and may I ask what was the camera you used as well as the editing program. Very nice effects. 73's Bob - WB8CCV "shenb" on YouTube

  • @shenb It's a Sony handheld HD camera, one of the older hard drive models. As stated in the description, I used Adobe Premier, After Effects, and Soundbooth. It was my first time using all of these programs.

  • @n2ytf the equipment list is in the description, but N1OB can explain in much better detail the components used to build the antenna.

  • @fboyd bees and flies and little gnats. Actually our sweaty backs were coated with them. We were about 20 yards from the actual peak at the same vertical elevation. The bees were horrible over there, just swarms of them.
