A walk along the shoreline at Whitefish Point, Paradise, Michigan, USA. Though beautiful, the waters off Whitefish Point have been called "The Graveyard of Lake Superior", as more shipwrecks have occurred off of Whitefish Point than any other part of Lake Superior. Among these was the famous Edmund Fitzgerald, which sunk just 17 miles NW of the point. The lighthouse at Whitefish Point is still active. Opening in 1849, it is one of the oldest lighthouses to still be active on Lake Superior.

  • I'm going there at the end of july can't wait

  • @stodd32 It's an awesome place. You're gonna love it! Be sure to go see Tahquamenon Falls too if you can. They're extraordinary! Thanks for stopping by : )

  • we stayed at curly's cabins, the flies ate us alive! we had the best smoked trout; the up north cure for any hangover...=)

  • @joyceannpumpkin Yep- the bugs can be heavy during the summer months. I always bring deep woods stuff. When I hiked up to Taquamanon I was eaten by mosquitos even with deep woods. They usually leave come late July, though. BUt, the smoked trout defintiely makes up for it. I'll haveta look into those cabins for my next trip up there. Thanks for viewing, and for the tip! : )

  • We stayed in a cabin there when I was just a kid. The owner of the cabin/property told us he had a pond/lake in the back to go fishing on, but we couldn't get past the "skeeters". He told us to just go in his house to get VHS tapes if we wanted to watch movies. It wasn't too far from a tourist type store, does anybody know where I'm talking about? This was about 15yrs ago.

  • The only people who look this up Live in paradise :) looking forward to the awesome whitefish and fish Fridays in newberry at hulberts next summer.

  • I read your comment 2 video titled "white people need 2 fall back." I was moved by what u said. I'm a black woman and I happen 2 agree what's wrong with wanting 2 learn about another group's experiences. I feel really bad about the hostility that some blacks have towards whites who mean well. We're not all innocent in how we treat people. But, please, continue 2 remain openmimnded not all of us have this mindset!

  • Thanks YOU for stopping by and commenting! A very cool place, indeed. If you do venture up that way, make sure to see Tahquamenon Falls and then head west to Munising, where you can take a boat cruise of Lake Superior along the Pictured Rocks area. It's amazing, as well!
