I've watched this a dozen times now. How on earth are you doing those rapid trains up the neck?! Are those the 'triplets' you speak of?

Yep, just eighth note triplets (i.e., three eighth notes played in the space of two). Usually played as a strike on the string on a beat followed by 2 hammers, pulls, or a combination evenly spaced before the next beat.
