The render time was quite short because there are no fancy stuff as hdri lightning, global illumination, ambient occlusion or depth of field. The second part with 30k small balls took the longest because of the calculations needed. That part took around 5h on my intel core i7 860@stock speed. Was done during the night so calculations and rendering was done togheter. Usually you bake the calculations so you dont have to redo if rendering crashes.
