they arent nessicarily fat. they are very fit horses it is they way they are built. i thought that too when i was younger but i found out they are built like that.
Dressage competition has a lot of emphasis on extended trots and canters -- the Lipizzaners are "baroque" horses whose specialty tends to be in the very collected movements. Just happens to be the evolution of the sport. Too bad, really.
I was lucky enough to get front row seats to a show it was amazing a bit more drooling than what Im used to though but thats the style.They smelled really good, a bit like linseed oil actually.

Well, the horse doesn't look very comfortable, and it's not very... smooth.
And I think the saddle is way to close to the neck - should be pulled back.
