Havaianas @ Royal Ascot - collaboration with Fred Butler

To celebrate 300 years of British horse racing, Havaianas collaborated with hat designer Fred Butler for Ascot 2011. This creative partnership is a mutual project that infuses Havaianas' fashion credentials and personality with Fred Butler's beautiful hat design expertise in a unique fashion concept.

The hats perfectly transcend to ASCOT ladies day as one of their most popular events in the horse-racing calendar. Since 1711, this typically British tradition has seen a celebration of the latest innovative fashions and has more recently become synonymous with daring hats; the bigger, the brighter, the better.

The capsule includes three designs that capture the Brazilian spirit and vibrancy of the Havaianas 'Always Summer' 2011 campaign; a completely fresh interpretation of the iconic flip flops transformed.

These exciting hats had been seen on the 16th of June at Ascot Ladies Day where Fred showcased her three latest designs.

Fred Butler says of the collaboration:

"The brand's signature of bright colour hues is a perfect match for my natural inclination to working with a primary palette in my own collections. I am translating the fresh summer aesthetic of their flip - flops by transforming the footwear into exotic flowers. By bending and twisting cane, I am using basketry techniques to bind strips of the cardboard box packaging into the base of the fascinators. Manipulating the rubber straps of the flip flops into blooms of foliage to complement the clusters of jungle flowers, the headpieces will be a new direction for the classic Ascot hat. I can't wait to see the girls enjoying wearing them on the day!"
