Images of Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. Audio is Stephen Lang's "Men of the Valley" speech from "Gods and Generals," and a flute rendition of "Stonewall Jackson's Way."

Note: No, Jackson did not write this speech; it was written by the screenwriter for "Gods and Generals."

  • Very true. Jackson would have gone all the way to D.C. and forced Lincoln to sign the surrender.

  • Stephen lang is touched by the southern spirit :)

  • Lang is a superb actor!

  • damn that picture at 1:50 actually looks like stephen lang

  • Stephen Lang's best role is and shall always remain General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson from Gods and Generals (2003).

  • @colindominy Damn right!

  • Lang's portrayal of Blue Light is astonishingly outstanding in Ron Maxwell's movie. Brilliant lines & so well spoken - very moving .. makes you want to enlist there & then, on the spot, for "The Cause" ....

  • why does it matter if he was or was aganist slavery,it does not matter any more that was a long time past i wished people would get over the damn fact that they had slaves,so what.

  • I keep listening to this, its so well written and well performed!

  • @eflint1 Jackson never said or did anything to indicate that he was against slavery. Lee was against slavery insofar as it created an unpleasant situation for him when he was required to manage his late father-in-law's estate, but he wrote that if God wanted slavery to end, He would take care of it in His own time, and in the meantime it was beneficial for the slaves. Both Jackson and Lee were slaveowners.
