  • Wonderful video, so simple but so... - and I love this song... Shooting from the bike is a great touch - travelling the road, like going home.

I used to be a massive Runrig fan and just this hour had a revival on Grooveshark. They inspired me visit Skye in my late teens and I yearn to return there now. It's a beautiful, breathtaking, spiritual place.

What wouldn't I give to grow old in a place like this?!

  • @theestever

I had tears in my eyes while enjoying the beauty of this isle for the first time. No other place I've been before ever caused this. Have been there a few weeks ago for the 5th time and I'm still amazed.

Btw: Flower of the West is a song about North Uist.

  • Oh My God:) this was such a beautiful journey :) I took the same journey about 4 weeks ago a dear friend of mine was my guide through the Highlands of Bonnie Scotland and there are not enough words to describe the magic within each moment being there. From the moment I landed in Scotland I felt truly at home. And being in the Highlands where ma wee heart and soul has always belonged only confirmed everything it is my own personal heaven on earth and I know one day it will be my forever home:).xx

  • This is funny...we had or still have exactly the same feelings. :)

  • It's a lovely island.

  • First bit is going up Drum na Cloich, next bit is between Sligachan and Portree, after that it's the twisties at Drynoch coming down towards Carbost - I bet you loved Crossal Straight, I notice you cut that out - followed by Crossal to just before Sligachan (Marsco in the background), back down Drum na Cloich and then the last bit is going down to the ferry at Ardvasar. Am I right?

  • @cnocspeireag Yeah, I drove them pretty frequently too when I still lived on Skye ;-)

  • @nikl1411 I remember listening to FOTW and following the walk described towards the end of the song on a map. Took a drive around N Uist when I was there - gorgeous, elemental place.

  • I slave for a wage in central England. And when I am given the freedom to go for several days on my motorcycle,I do not head for some sunny clime, I head always to Skye and beyond. It is my spiritual home, because when I am there I feel like I have come home to my ancestral root.

YOU CAN FEEL IT IN YOUR HEART, REALLY!!

I say to everyone, check if you can feel the same. If you do, you may be another such as myself who has a historic link, but is an economic deportee from that wonderful land.

  • @gordonjcp Right on the button. Ferry at Armadale (OK half a mile from Ardvasar). I drive some of these roads more or less daily, but still watched with pleasure. I listened to this song at a Runrigg concert at Broadford ages ago.

  • Thank you for your kind reply :) and it matters not what others think for they are just words:)I truly believe and know deep within am better and my unconditional love & appreciation for a beautiful land and its people, culture is mine alone and how I feel towards it,is mine alone for it brings me such joy and pleasure, happiness within for no one can take that away from me.Others say what they do because they don't have a passion for they don't know what it is to truly feel something deep within.

  • @celticlass32 Never mind those that have a go because you were not born in Scotland. I was and I swell with pride when people such as yourself speak so highly of my native land. Keep on visiting and having fun and thanks again for your kind words and love of Scotland :-)

  • My reply to you was because I felt like you were attacking me by calling me a wannabe and I honestly respect everyone for there opinion whatever it may be but when it comes to things to close to my heart well lets just say you hit really hard with your words to be honest..I am not of Scottish blood my dad is from Ireland but none the less I have always loved Scotland her Highlands with all my heart and the culture due to growing up hearing stories so I carry her deep within my heart on me:).

  • celticlass thats a bit over dramatic, my comments are not Q"nasty" it is mere observations on the sheer huge number of wannabe scots over in usa and canada.
