Treatment

At the South Georgia Center for Cancer Care in Statesboro, Georgia, led by Dr. David H. Weems, M.D., we have some of the most advanced technology available for cancer care. We've created a series of educational videos to help patients understand the cancer therapy process, from treatment simulation, to treatment planning, and radiation. This is the third of the three videos.
Once the patient is ready to begin the actual treatment, he or she is set up as prescribed by the physician on the treatment machine by certified therapists. Laser beams are used to assure proper alignment. Once the patient is in position the therapists leave the room and treatment is started. There is no sensation from the treatment whatsoever with only some humming made by the machine. Each treatment field generally requires less than a minute.
